Hi, and welcome to our sailing page! On April Fools Day, 2015, Vicki and I bought SV Second Draft, a 1999 34-foot Gemini M Catamaran. I first lived aboard a boat as a teenager and have wanted to return to that lifestyle ever since. With our daughters grown and our work allowing us more flexibility, we decided to take the plunge.
For the past two years, we have split our time between our home and the boat and spent much of that time cruising both coasts of Florida and hanging out in the Florida Keys for the winter months. We are currently in our home port of Titusville, just across the Indian River from Kennedy Space Center. Second Draft is currently “on the hard” while we work on bottom paint and some mechanical issues.
While no one in their right mind would really consider owning and maintaining a boat like this a “budget travel” option, living aboard a boat can actually be cheaper than doing so on land. Plus, wherever in the world you drop anchor, you have your accomodations with you. After our refit, we hope to sail down to the Bahamas and perhaps as far south as Belize. Along the way, we will be posting stories about our travels as well as how-to articles on maintenance, navigation and all things sailing. We hope you will join us!
